Our Story

In September of 1980, Cornerstone Assembly of God Church began in the living room of Allen and Dena Gregory’s home. In the summer of 1981, the church purchased property on Schrade Road and a dome-shaped building was constructed. In the spring of 1990 construction began on a new larger sanctuary. It was completed in October and the doors opened in November. An additional 34 acres were purchased in 1993. Sadly, Dena passed away in December 2007 from kidney failure. Pastor Allen Gregory had the pleasure of working with his family in the ministry for over 34 years.  He passed away February 5, 2015.

Following his death, Rev. Brian & Lisa Hiatt became the Lead Pastors of Cornerstone after serving as Associate Pastor for 14 years.  Along with their leadership team, they are continuing to serve and minister to Rowlett and the surrounding communities.  We are so thankful to God for blessing us with our Pastors and placing Cornerstone here in Rowlett.

Recently, our original campus was purchased by the charter school who had been leasing space from us for several years. Construction on a new sanctuary will begin on our Dalrock property very soon!

Cornerstone has touched the lives of many and we are thankful for our heritage.  But this is just the beginning. We look forward to experiencing more of God’s power and presence and reaching and touching many more lives as we work to build God’s Kingdom both here in Rowlett and around the world.
